The US photographer will teach a free workshop on the 11th December to round up the end of Plaza In Focus 2010, the photography competition launched by the Royal School of Cavalry in Ronda (RMR) in celebration of the 225th anniversary of the bullring in Ronda. Places are limited and interested participants simply need to contact the RMR to explain why they’d like to take part and send in an image from their portfolio before the 5th December 2010.

The photographic competition Plaza In Focus 2010 comes to a close on the 15th December 2010. Launched on Flickr this summer, the RMR hopes to get visitors to share their unique way of seeing and experiencing the bullring during its 225th anniversary. The idea is to get their creative juices roused by the architecture, history, arts and culture of a monument that has been the inspiration for fabulous artists such as Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway. For those of you who haven’t yet taken part, we’ve got a surprise in store. The RMR has organized a free photo workshop by US photographer Wayne Chasan, winner of the Gold Lux Award for industrial photography and the Business Promotion of Andalusia Award given by the regional government of Andalusia.

During an eight hour workshop participants will discuss ways to make pictures interesting and learn how to create particular moods and ambience in images. They will learn aspects of photography including choice of moment, angle, light, lens and processing. The course will also highlight the importance of image editing and postproduction, as well as exlaining the basic concepts behind photographic platforms such as Flickr. Participants will need to bring along their own cameras and a tripod and will use the bullring as the subject and/or backdrop for their images. These photos will then be uploaded onto Flickr and will compete in the competition before it comes to a close on the 15th December 2010.

Interested participants simply need to send an email to prensa@realmaestranza.org before the 5th December including an image from their portfolio, their full name, a phone number and a short text explaining why they’d like to take part. Places are limited and therefore the RMR will choose the 20 participants who they believe will get the most out of the workshop.
